Yesterday, we made lamb shank. The lamb was from a local farmer west of Phoenix called Orbit City Farm. I met her a few weeks ago off of the ten in a gas station parking lot to get the lamb I ordered. It felt like I was doing something illegal and wrong but we weren’t. She meets her clients regularly in order to make more food available for people that live far from her.
It was the first time I was making lamb shank, so I looked up a couple recipes on Pinterest and then created my own recipe. I know it’s a winner when the kids fight over it or I wouldn’t be sharing it.
1. Rub salt, cinnamon, basil, rosemary, thyme and turmeric on the lamb to your liking.
2. Add a couple waters in the slow cooker.
3. Put the lamb in the water and cook to your preference.
We cooked it on high for 2.5 hours but you can do it on low for 5-6 hours depending on the size of the lamb.
It was that simple.
P.S. You can save the water and the bones to make bone broth with the lamb. Another delicious and healthy bonus.
